Sno*Drift Rally
January 29-30
Sno*Drift Rally is the only part of Rally America held in the winter. Real Roads, Real Fast, is the motto and they mean it. Roads are closed for each stage, there are about 18 stages over the weekend, Friday night in Lewiston and on Saturday, in Atlanta and Hillman. All of it is within Montmorency County. The cars run in one minute intervals, leaving from downtown Lewiston and are timed on each stage, the cars must drive within the speed limits between stages, but once the stage is hot, anything goes, snow and ice doesn't slow them down, if anything it makes them go faster. Approximately 50 to 75 cars may enter, every year is different. It is definitely an exciting race and it is the first one on the Rally America National Championship. You can pick up a spectator guide at many businesses throughout Montmorency County to get maps and directions to popular spots to watch. Dress warm and enjoy the outdoors in Northern Michigan.
